Dear Author,

Thank you so much for writing a story for me! This is my first time participating in a music-focused exchange, so I’m excited to read what you come up with.

I’ve included some thoughts and prompts for each of the requested songs below, but please don’t feel obligated to stick to what I’ve written here. I’ll be happy to receive just about anything outside of my Do Not Wants.

I’m open to genfic or shipfic in any category, and feel free to play around with the genders of the people in the songs. (If it’s sung by a man, the main character doesn’t have to be a man, for example.) I’m much more attached to the concepts and themes of these songs than I am to any specific characters.

For pretty much every song I’ve requested here, I’m really interested in taking a central metaphor and turning it into something literal. I love surrealism, magical realism, and supernatural elements, so feel free to lean into those things big time if you feel so inclined.

Just a note that several of the songs I’ve requested have accompanying music videos. Feel free to draw inspiration from the imagery therein, but I’m generally more interested in the songs themselves – except in the one case where I’ve included “Music Video” in the tag.
